The Beachfront Inn & Suites at Dana Point

Cozy and comfortable place with beautiful views from every suite. All suites have balconies. Suites have a bedroom, bath, and living area. Some suites have bathtubs, some only showers, and I have stayed twice and had both types of room. The shower only bathroom had weak water pressure in the shower but the bathtub bathroom had very good water pressure, not sure if that applies to every room though. Small fridge and microwave, some of the suites have a sink nearby. Comfortable beds with plenty of pillows. There is a large spa on a central deck with a beach view but I did not use it. Friendly and professional employees. Spacious and well lighted sub level parking, with elevators and stairs serving all three floors. Walking distance from a bar, a sushi restaurant, and a Mexican restaurant with delicious food and excellent margaritas. There is also a hair salon in the building next door. A ten minute walk to the beach, across the street and over the footbridge. Trains go by every now and then, daily and nightly, the passenger trains are short but the freight trains are longer, all are somewhat noisy, but I think it adds to the charm of the location. I enjoyed my stays.

Pitiful I have to write this and I HOPE for a quick resolution from the worker Carlos, although after my initial call and fraudulent charges I’m not hopeful. I just checked out this morning, stopping through during a weekend birthday trip. I was hoping for some peace & quiet and beach views. I was instead charged hundreds of dollars for a smoking fee & I never once even thought about smoking in the room. I’ve never been charged or even warned of smoking as I would never disrespect a property or its rules. I’m now on day two of my trip with hundreds unexpectedly pulled from my account for a fraudulent lie charge. When I called they told me I have to wait for the fraud they charged me to get on his next shift and debate and hope for a reversal? That can’t be life when smoking never occurred. Disgusted and disgruntled. Thank you Dana point beach front inn for ruining my birthday and charging me hundreds fraudulently. Do the right thing and fix this asap! UPDATE: in response to this hotels poor response trying to save face, I did call and infact I tried to be civil, your staff then lied and claimed they had witnesses of smoking on the balcony when that was disingenuous. This hotel's tactics to gain a few extra dollars is shameful. Carlos, shame on you. BTW, leaving a review of experience as a warning to future travelers isn't "spamming" negative reviews. BUYER BEWARE. BUYER BEWARE. BUYER BEWARE. AND ESPECIALLY SMOKER BEWARE. IF YOU SMOKE AT ALL DO NOT COME HERE THEY WILL EXPLOIT YOU WITH FALSE CHARGES.

DJ incredibly helped. He showed us rooms and told us that one room had a partial ocean view, which I found very conscientious. He also gave us a discount and arranged to move us to a room on the 2nd floor with a better view when he would not be in the office the next morning. He also had cultural understanding and humility, which makes interactions enjoyable. He gave us the towels and blankets I requested (not many hotels I stayed delivered this). Such a relief and joy to work with fantastic staff. I hope this place gives him a raise. Rooms had living room areas with ocean views. We could hear the wave sounds in the living room areas. 109 had even a stove (coil) and pots and sink in the kitchenet area, on top of 2 door refrigerator and microwave. 220 had a bathroom separate from the bedroom. I preferred the "View" rooms than "Front" rooms, as I need some space to avoid direct sunlight while seeing the ocean views, and a front room I saw on the 1st floor did not seem to have a large place to hide from the sunlight. But wide views to the ocean in the front rooms of course looked good. The cleaning lady cleaned 220 first and even let us know that it was ready, so that we did not have to move our suitcase and everything to the car and come back. They offer 15% off for 3 consecutive nights and 20% off for 4 consecutive nights. Elevator and free parking also make it convenient to stay there. We could hear the train sounds occasionally, but the amazing staff and views and discount make it worthwhile. This is a place I want to come back when visiting this area again.
